Back in September, I sequestered myself into a sound-proof booth to create a top 100 fantasy baseball prospect list free from the mad cries of the echo chamber. Shortly thereafter I went to work breaking down the top prospects for each MLB team. A week after coming up for air following my 30-team deep dive into the minor leagues, I’m excited to share my updated 200 in an easily searchable and sort-able table!

*Note: I’ve written about each of these guys if you’d like more and are curious enough to follow the threads to September’s Top 150 for 2020 Fantasy Baseball or my organizational top ten lists or just try clicking the players names to view their recent posts.

      Hi, Chad!

Maybe things will change for Hayes now that Pittsburgh is taking a different approach to hitting than it did for much of his development, but the results so far have been . . . bad.

      365bet 足球比分直播Not underwhelming.

Ke’Bryan Hayes has been a bad hitter for fantasy baseball his entire minor league career.

He stole 27 bases once in high A while hitting 2 home runs in 108 games, but unless he’s gonna run like that in the bigs, he’s looking a bit like Matt Duffy these days.

Could certainly turn it around, but that’s what a bet on Hayes is saying: that analyst believes pretty much everything about Hayes as a hitter will change, and soon.

365bet 足球比分直播Any thoughts on Pauson being ranked so far after to Dominguez?

    Reasons I ask:

    1. Not much video available on either.
    2. They signed similar monster contracts.

    Further:

    1. Oakland signed Pauson and NYY signed Dominguez.
365bet 足球比分直播 2. Significantly more people follow NYY than Oakland.

365bet 足球比分直播Therefore, at this point, I’ve concluded it’s simply a hype train that got Dominguez flying up the charts.

365bet 足球比分直播Thoughts? Btw, do you have any sources for video on either that I might not have found? I’ve exhausted all the common search areas.

365bet 足球比分直播Thanks Itch! Keep the stories/reports coming.

      Thanks, Jolt In Flow!

And well said: the Dominguez hype train has morphed into a rocket and has already exited earth’s atmosphere.

The split is more about him getting this crazy love than anything negative about Puason.

And if you’re searching all the typical spots like google and youtube and following a variety of prospect twitter accounts, we’re probably getting the same video. Just not much available on the J2 guys until they’ve been stateside for a while, usually.

But this is an excellent question. Might start a long-term project cataloging video sources . . . Baseball America and Fangraphs have been killing it for a while and ProspectsLive has been an amazing addition to the prospecting universe, but there are some solid Twitterers, too. Need to dig a bit.

365bet 足球比分直播In any case, whats your thoughts on Aaron Sabato? He is ranked higher than Torkelson in D1Baseball. When he gets drafted where do you think his initial ranking would be?

    • The Itch

      The Itch says:
      (link365bet 足球比分直播)

      Hi Whatever,

      Thanks for the kind words!!

Yeah I jumped in for Mike starting in September. Have hammered out about 50K words since then. Wild how it adds up.

Sabato looks a little bulky to do much more than DH, but if he rakes again this year, he’ll jump right into the top 100 for most fantasy-facing lists. Lotta guys have mashed for a year in college and then come back to earth as opponents focus on them. Vaughn jumping into some top tens the way he did has likely enhanced anticipation for Tork and Sabato, so I think Vaughn’s success or struggles could have a tangential impact on how these guys get ranked even though they are very different players. Vaughn is hit over power with incredible plate skills, which makes him unique.

      • Whatever says:
        (link)

Thanks Itch. Speaking of Vaughn I decided to trade him in my OBP keeper for Harper a couple of months ago. Its very hard to find top bats in my league come draft time and i am in a win now mode. But it hurt me to give up Vaughn. As they say flags fly forever so when you have a shot go for it.

    Hey Itch,

    Thanks so much for this.

I’ve graduated from roto to a keeper league to my first full dynasty league this year.

It’s a 14 teamer and we keep 35 minor leaguers. And there is a 5 round minors draft in July to restock from the FYPD and international signings.

365bet 足球比分直播Assuming that I will only get 1/14 of the top 50, after that any advice on what sort of balance I should aim for (in time) in my farm between average talent but close to majors vs potential international superstars who are only 17 year olds?

And any value in trying to keep a balance of different positions or pitchers vs hitters. Or just aim for highest ceilings no matter what…?

    Thanks!

      365bet 足球比分直播Hey BravesUK,

365bet 足球比分直播WELCOME TO THE FOREVER-FUN ZONE!!!

By which I mean dynasty is my favorite format, and I hope you like it!

Can you add minor league free agents during the season?

Even with 14 and 35, you should be able to mine some solid talent.

365bet 足球比分直播I suspect you’ll get more than 1/4 . . . might even get someone off the 50 in all five rounds . . . dynasty is very wild west in general but maybe nowhere moreso than the FYPD.

In terms of balance, it does help to have a lot of differently shaped pieces because you never know who you’ll be trading with and what they’ll want.

I generally value proximity and production more than the crowd because that dictates near-term opportunity, and even in rebuild, it’s great to pick up a player from AAA and have them in your lineup a few weeks later . . . it’s also how you land the Whit Merrifields, Nelson Cruzes, Jon Bertis, Trent Grishams, David Ortizes, Matt Olson and on and on and on.

Or even guys who fall into opportunity like Mike Tauchman and Gio Urshella. I suspect both would’ve been available in this sized league last year. Even Frankie Montas might’ve been out there.

365bet 足球比分直播No need to go all kids to chase upside, is all I’m saying. It’s important to follow that market and invest there, especially with a minors that deep. That factor probably increases the value of players who are far away.

365bet 足球比分直播Anyway, fun question, and that’s one of the keys to dynasty in general–moreso than a redraft in my opinion–acquire players you believe in or want to watch and try to have as much fun with it as possible . . . while winning of course.

      • BravesUK says:
        (link365bet 足球比分直播)

      365bet 足球比分直播Hi BravesUK,

Not for nothing i played in a few dynasty leagues for a bit. I like keeper leagues but dynasty is a whole new level. I will say this, dont be in the middle. What I mean is either decide to win now and acquire talent to win now or have a plan for 3 years down the road to dominate with tasty acquisitions from teams in win now. my two cents fwiw.

    What’s up Itch,

365bet 足球比分直播Great List overall, just curious about a couple things

365bet 足球比分直播What red flags do you see with the Braves OF duo that has them dropped down in the 50s on prospect lists? Waters in particular has seen a lot of hype this offseason, but I’m guessing the K rate is scaring you away?

365bet 足球比分直播Secondly, I’ve never seen Tarik Skubal ranked this highly by anyone. His numbers were incredible last year without a doubt, but do you really see his stuff translating to Top-of-Rotation upside akin to guys like Mize, Manning, Whitley and Patiño?

    Thanks again, love your work!

    • The Itch

      The Itch says:
      (link365bet 足球比分直播)

      365bet 足球比分直播Thanks, Will!

Part of the Waters thing is that I’m skeptical he can really impact our game in the HR or SB categories, and part of it is Ralph believes he can’t hit right-handed, which . . . his swing . . . it’s not ideal from that side.

365bet 足球比分直播Pache I just don’t see the upside at the moment. See the steady value of a likely starter, but not top-end value.

And about Skubal, yes, I think he might be better than all those guys.

Will be key to track how it plays the second time thru because I kind of expect him to dominate early.

I snagged Brujan and Carlson the last week of last season. What do you see as their value/overall rank potential moving forward? We keep 15, and my last 5 in are Tim Anderson, Gary Sanchez, Castellanos, JAbreu, and Muncy. Any chance you’d keep one of those prospects over any of those guys if I’m competing this year coming off a championship? May be a silly question but figured I’d ask

How about a real-life comp to who you think Puason can be? .. Semien seems like a good comp to me.

I’m surprised so many other rankings gurus have ignored Puason. I mean, if Atlanta is trying to pay the kid off when he’s 14 years old, and Oakland — of all teams — spends $5 million-plus on him, you know there’s got to be something special there. Well played State Farm. Well played.

Brennen Davis at 20 is BOLD! Also, the highest I’ve seen him ranked anywhere. What’s the justification for a guy who doesn’t even have a full season of A ball that has a severely questionable hit tool?

    • The Itch

      The Itch says:
      (link)

      Hi Mack!

365bet 足球比分直播Davis has an advanced hit tool in my opinion, and according to the statistics. Specifically, his ability to cover the plate and go to right field while minimizing strikeouts as a 19-year-old in the Midwest League was . . . a little mind-blowing.

Especially considering he was supposed to be a raw athletic type.

  13. Heathcliff Slocumb says:
    (link)

Please don’t take this the wrong way…

365bet 足球比分直播So many of your rankings deviate so significantly from those of others that your list is, I’m afraid, difficult to take seriously. It comes off as being contrarian for contrarian’s sake. What precisely about your methodology and expertise should make me (or anyone else in the dynasty game) take your word over those who are far more established in the prospect game?

    • The Itch

      The Itch says:
      (link)

      Hi Heathcliff,

365bet 足球比分直播For one thing, and maybe this will sound ridiculous, I’ve made a small fortune prospecting baseball cards over the past decade.

365bet 足球比分直播I started by purchasing Mike Trout Bowman Chrome autos at $75 when he was in AA and selling them for $500 a little while later. (The base auto sells for about $5,000 today). I had no idea this world existed and went a little crazy with it, was even buying from two distributors wholesale, prospecting whole lists of sets. Like in 2018 Bowman Draft (released in November). The guys I wanted who didn’t have their first chrome autos were Kristian Robinson and Yordan Alvarez. Both have seen their eBay sales prices skyrocket since then.

365bet 足球比分直播Back in the day, I bought a huge Aaron Judge collection when the prospect world had convinced everyone he struck out too much.

365bet 足球比分直播Bought a little mountain of Mondesis on the cheap when everyone had dismissed him.

Bought Fernando Tatis Jr. Chrome Rookies at $10 a pop. They go for $500 all day today. Bought several of Jose Fernandez’s first base chrome auto for 15 and a gold at 50. Sold before tragedy struck, which makes me think . . .

I’m sure I missed plenty, but my biggest miss was Oscar Taveras. Had more than a grand in him. Best barrel control I’ve seen on a minor league field. Saw him take five swings and pick up five hits in a AAA game.

Anyway, I’m no Johnny come lately. I’ve poured my own money, work and time into this arena at a level that’s frankly ridiculous, but it’s brought me a lot of money, and that’s just in cards, which follow fantasy, not the other way around. Got my first fantasy writing gig 16 years ago, Been playing keepers for 22 years. Dynasty just the last few, but our keeper league auction was always a little dynasty, so the transition has been smooth and fun.

365bet 足球比分直播Anyway I don’t mind coloring outside the lines. That’s where the profit is. That’s why the list looks different.

I have articulated at various points in my time at Razzball about the general direction of the dynasty game RE the value of speed, and how the combination of speed and hit tool seems incredibly undervalued to me, given everyone’s easy access to power in the juiced ball launch angle era, and the chance that speed and hit tool guys add power as they age into muscle and experience.

My list is meant to reflect the comparative lack of value most pitching prospects have in dynasty leagues. If you’ve played dynasty and tried to shop them, some owners have just requested bats or shut down the idea of paying apparent prospect market value for a Liberatore or a McKay in some other way.

365bet 足球比分直播Truly appreciate the response. No offense to your predecessor but I kinda pulled out of this site for the past year plus and haven’t had the opportunity to check out your work. You’ve convinced me to take the time to do so.

Don’t mean to butt in but that was one keck of a reply, kudos snr inchy. I had similar thoughts to Slocumb, a bit unsure if I show follow your differing rankings but now am sold that you’re a guy well worth following and taking advice from!

365bet 足球比分直播I took Bishop and Puason fell to the 2nd who I was delighted to grab there. ROunded out with Daniel Lynch so overall a good yearly job done there. I don’t usually draft far proximity prospects so doubt Puason will ever see my lineup, but it’s knowing when to trade him to get the best value. If he is a big hit in 2020 do you see him flying up the rankings, is top 50 easily possible? Top 30?

Wanna talk about Varsho, doesn’t get much love always ranked around the 100 mark, probably because people don’t know if he’ll catch. But I think he’s likely he catches some and plays rest of time in the outfield, making him a regular at C who can really hit and even steal bases. Couldn’t that make him a catcher fantasy beast if he’s a 15/15/.280 catcher?? I’ve owned him a few years now and that seems a realistic hope to me, could be way more valuable than people realise.

Loving the O Cruz rank here too, having just traded for him recently. What do you see him potentially becoming, an Aaron Judge with less plate patience?

365bet 足球比分直播And I’ve scoured your list to find any unclaimed gems, and found one in Gilberto Jimenez. Now it would mean promoting Dustin May or McKay, neither who I want to start their clocks for another year as they aren’t projected to get a full starters workload in 2020 (contracts league so have to be prudent when to promote). However if this Jimenez kid is what you say, do I have to make the move now? If so, which of those SP’s is most likely to rack up a quality 160 innings?

I’d promote McKay because there’s good momentum toward a rotation spot in that we recently learned he’ll be on a five-day schedule where hitting is a side project, as opposed to the early winter threat of a two-way focus.

      365bet 足球比分直播Hi, Swfcdan,

I think next winter is the time to move him if he hits and you don’t want to wait. No need to hold out for the perfect moment if that’s the end goal and you see a decent opportunity to add a piece that helps soon.

With Cruz, I think the clay is so soft that yeah, he could go down a somewhat Judge-ish road, but he’s got a lot of possible outcomes, and people are just assuming he’ll get slower, which, yeah, he’s tall, but 6’7″ guys in the NBA don’t just automatically lose their burst at 23. Maybe they have more incentive to stay lean than Cruz will, but looking at the Fangraphs page that calls him a 60 present runner with a 45 future run tool . . . I dunno . . . just feels aggressively presumptuous.

365bet 足球比分直播And Varsho . . . his biggest problem has nothing to do with him. The Diamondbacks are becoming kinda loaded, and if he’s 15/15 280, I’m not certain that’s enough to stay in their lineup on an everyday basis.

365bet 足球比分直播Curious why you rank Vaughn over Adley? They played in the same conference and Adley’s number were far superior in almost every cateogry in their last year. I know he is a Catcher but his bat is so special I’d be shocked if he doesn’t DH most days when he isn’t catching. Thanks! Enjoy your articles very much…

      Thanks, Silent Heat!

Some of it was Vaughn’s consistency as the man to attack in that lineup for three years, some of it was the risk of catcher, some of it was the incredible on base skills across three years, some was landing spot as CHW is looking monstrous in the near future,

but I can definitely see the case for Adley and did have him neck and neck with Vaughn at times. Even though catchers get faded heavily in most my leagues, especially prospect catchers, they’re incredibly valuable if actualized.

Still, their peaks are brief and sporadic, and first base is looking pretty barren in its own right.

    Hey itch,
365bet 足球比分直播 I’d love to pick your brain on about the baseball card scene sometime. I don’t even play dynasty, I mainly use your lists for cards to target. I’ve been out of the card game for 25 years or so, but started picking it back up because of my 6-year old. I’ll blame him anyway!

      Hi, Worm Burner!

Would love to talk cards w you!

365bet 足球比分直播And love hearing you read Prospect stuff mostly fur that. Been there!

Top of my head things to discuss would be fading pitchers hard and focusing on big markets to at least some degree!

365bet 足球比分直播Good luck and have fun with it!

Oh and consignment sellers can be your best friend if you find your cards piling up. Can save a lot of legwork.

13 team roto dynasty with OPS/holds/QS/hits added, OBP over AVG. 30 man active rosters, infinite DL’s, 10 man max prospect lists (and in season 10 NA slots that can be different than the prospect list).
    C: grandal, mejia
    1B bellinger (CF/RF), goldy
    2B altuve, laSTELLA (3B)
    SS machado (3B)
    3B bregman (SS)
    IF bogaerts
    LF mercado (all OF), w.calhoun
    CF robles (RF)
    RF blackman
    OF brocktune (polanco RF)
    util (1) otani (hitter only)
    BN ceager (c.seager)
DL: mccutchen (but he ain’t gone long)

SP (5): (1800 innings max here so you do want a lot of them, and when injuries hit stream too, i’m actually fairly short currently)
ryu, glasnow, fried, luzardo, lynn, maeda

RP (7): osuna, kenley, pressly, rogers, gallegos, colome, m.barnes, bummer (gotta drop one, bummer i’d think)
DL: pineda (suspendeds can go here too), r.hill, rodon

prospect list (some drops needed here): k.cron, pearson, larnach, trammell, x.edwards, o.cruz, brujan, duplantier, r.armentaros, mize, graterol, vientos, l.garcia (WAS), valera, k.lee

365bet 足球比分直播so for now i gotta cut at least 5 prospects and 1 RP. i’m thinking the 5 prospects are: l.garcia, k.lee, duplantier (or promote him if he’s in MLB shortly, could NA stash him in season if not), armentaros and i guess trammell or vientos? after dropping bummer and before mccluchin’ comes back i do have 2 open spots on active though. obviously try to trade c.seager i’d think.

forgot about gonsolin, i have him too, can be prospect listed. so i gotta drop 11 out of the list above + gonsolin is on it. for now he could also just fit on active too.

I’ve been referencing back to this page a good bit during the final days of the preseason. I appreciate the work! Wondering what your thoughts are on Alexander Canario. I’ve seen him as high as top 100 on some lists, including your list at the end of 2019. Any reason he’s fallen out of the top 200 during the offseason?
